2019 Training Programs

New rules for flying drones took effect June 1

Our comprehensive Advanced Drone Operations training program prepares you to apply for a Pilot Certificate – Small Remotely Piloted Aircraft (VLOS) – Advanced Operations and covers material on all topics/subjects dedicated to TP 15263:

RPAS Ground School (Advanced Operations)

  • Course Code: RPASOTC-GSA-1901
  • Course Details: This course consists of three modules:
    1. Self-Study: 5 hours - Covers material dedicated to Special Flight Operations Certificate (SFOC) and pilot resources relevant to RPAS/UAV operations plus topics/subjects dedicated to TP 15263.
    2. Instructor Led (Online): 20 hours – Covers topics/subjects dedicated to TP 15263.
    3. Exam (Online): 2 hours – Practice knowledge test.
  • Cost: $500.00 (+ HST) per person
  • Prerequisite: None - given the comprehensive nature of the Advanced online exam and flight review, Transport Canada recommends taking this course.
  • Restricted Operator Certificate – Aeronautical is offered at no cost when you book RPAS Ground School (Advanced Operations)

RPAS Flight School (Advanced Operations)

  • Course Code: RPASOTC-FSA-1901
  • Course Details: This course consists of 3 modules:
    1. Self-Study: 2 hours – Covers material to help you prepare for field training.
    2. Instructor Led (Hands-on): 3 hours – Provides hand-on training and tips to maintain and operate your drone.
    3. Proficiency Check (Hands-on): 1 hour – Test your skills and knowledge to maintain and operate your drone and prepare for the Flight Review, a requirement to obtain an Advanced sRPAS pilot certificate.
  • Cost*: $250.00 (+HST) per person
  • Prerequisite: None - given the comprehensive nature of the Advanced online exam and flight review, Transport Canada recommends taking this course.
